Our Love Story
It all started with a lie during their first-hour class of freshman year…
Tyler and Amareya met in their first-hour American History class on the first day of 9th grade at St. Paul Central High School. Upon walking into class, Amareya spoke to her friend DeRae who then introduced her to Tyler by saying, “This is my sister Tyler” and quickly Tyler responded with “Yeah, we have the same dad.” Immediately Amareya recognized Tyler was not your average freshman based on her large pink trapper keeper. Amareya knew Tyler was about business. They crossed paths throughout the next 4 years at Central but never became close friends.
Fast forward to 2015, Tyler and Amareya crossed paths again, but this time at the Mall of America where they both worked at shoe stores. They would pop into each other's jobs regularly just to visit and hang out during quick breaks. Naturally their friendship grew as they started talking more and discussing interests such as how fly Fabolous is and sneakers, of course. Leading to Amareya giving Tyler the nickname Kobi on her 24th birthday.
In May 2017 their friendship took a new direction. Amareya asked Tyler on a “friend date”. (Being super naive, Tyler accepted and genuinely thought Amareya was taking her on a date as friends.) The two went shopping and then ended their night with dinner at Hooters. After that, they were inseparable. In June of that year, the two prepared to go to a Boosie concert at Privé Nightclub. Getting Tyler 2 watches, 2 pairs of heels, and wearing coordinating outfits led Amareya to ask Tyler to be her girlfriend the next morning. (Obviously, Tyler said YES!)
Since that day Tyler and Amareya have been enjoying building their dream life together. - They even got a cat named Nala Tymareisha Allen-McMillan. - On April 5, 2021, Amareya led Tyler to Armstrong Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. They stopped to listen to a guitarist play “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar right before Amareya got down on one knee, creasing her 3M Retro 13, to propose. Once again, Tyler said YES!! When they started to think about what day they wanted to get married, it didn’t take long to decide to tie the knot August(8) 20(24).
